The group's founding company, established in 1989: trade media for municipalities and the construction industry, including KOMMUNAL, the official organ of the Austrian Association of Municipalities, and a3BAU. Its ten print titles are complemented by websites, newsletters, Kommunalbedarf.at, the KOMMUNAL Campus and events such as the Kommunalmesse.

The Kommunal-Verlag's Berlin subsidiary specialises in communication with the public sector and reaches municipal decision-makers in Germany's roughly 11,000 municipalities. Its portfolio includes the trade media KOMMUNAL and die:gemeinde, the Forum KOMMUNAL and the Messe KOMMUNAL trade fair, plus online media, content marketing and market research.

From Vienna and Munich, LSZ organises more than 40 congresses, conferences, forums and webinars a year. Its formats are aimed at the IT, HR, digital, security and marketing sectors; in Munich the company operates as LSZ Future Connections GmbH.

Improove is an agency for search engine optimisation, paid search and visibility in AI search (GEO), founded in 2009, with its headquarters in Vienna and a second office in Madrid. It works for companies in more than 60 countries and has been part of the group as an independent brand since 2026.

RIS GmbH, based in Steyr, develops digital solutions for municipalities and is best known for its Gem2Go product family. This includes a content management system for municipal websites, the Gem2Go citizen app, digital maps, regional portals and the Gem2Go Kiosk as a digital notice board.

Kommunos provides cities, municipalities and municipal associations with software to advertise vacancies, manage applications and select staff. The service is backed by three owners who contribute IT and software development, recruitment consulting and knowledge of the municipal sector – one of them is the Kommunal-Verlag.
